Rihanna’s PUMA x Fenty Creepers Named “Shoe of the Year” for 2016

Rihanna’s collaboration with PUMA has proven to be nothing short of colossal. So much that Footwear News is naming her creepers Shoe of the Year for 2016 and will replace Kanye West’s Yeezy Boost 350, which held the title last year. Footwear News is an industry authority on everything footwear focusing on top news and trends. Rihanna will be honored at the 30th annual Footwear News Achievement Awards on November 29. With all the buzz surrounding The Bad Gal and her designer collections, it’s definitely a well-deserved prize.

Rihanna has been taking over the fashion game and making a name for herself as brand ambassador, creative director and designer. The certified fashion icon is on her second collaboration with PUMA and her items continue to sell out hours after they drop. The Fenty x PUMA creepers release shut down the internet and social media and they sold out in just 3 hours after their release. The creeper style was released last Fall and the shoes still can’t seem to stay on the shelves. Released in mostly neutral tones, the casual sneakers are a perfect addition to any outfit and have been seen on stars from supermodel Gigi Hadid to rappers Future and Travis Scott.

The Footwear News “Shoe of the Year” title is chosen based on retail sales, consumer feedback, social media prowess and overall buzz, all of which are off the charts for Rihanna.

Kanye’s mega popular Yeezy Boost 350 were the talk of the streets last year, and now RiRI has the streets on fire. FN’s editorial director Michael Atmore commented, “Shoe of the Year is the most coveted award because it truly reflects industry dominance” and that “Rihanna made a statement shoe that drove global excitement and generated huge sales.”

She’s the perfect addition or face for any brand; her fans adore her and women want to be just like her. She’s taken the fashion world by storm with her daring take on style and she’s just getting started.
