Serena Williams Engaged To Reddit Co-Founder Alexis Ohanian

Tennis icon Serena Williams and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian are officially engaged.

According to published reports, Ohanian popped the question while the two were vacationing in Rome. Williams, who made the announcement in a Reddit post on its “r/isaidyes” forum, gave fans the play by play on how her beau sealed the deal.

“I came home/A little late/Someone had a bag packed for me/And a carriage awaited” Williams said in her poem formatted Reddit post. “Destination: Rome/To escort me to my very own ‘charming’/Back to where our stars first collided/And now it was full circle/At the same table we first met by chance/This time he made it not by chance/But by choice/Down on one knee/He said 4 words/And/r/isaidyes.”

Ohanian also announced the engagement via his Facebook page, linking to Williams’ Reddit post adding the comment, “She said yes.”

In other Serena news, Williams recently gave her thoughts of her legacy and being overlooked as one of the greatest, during her interview with Common on ESPN’s “The Undefeated.”. During the interview, Serena revealed that she feels her gender is what’s keeping her from being boxed out as being labeled as one of the greatest tennis players of all time.

I think if I were a man, I would have been in that conversation a long time ago,” Williams said. “I think being a woman is just a whole new set of problems from society that you have to deal with, as well as being black, so it’s a lot to deal with — and especially lately. I’ve been able to speak up for women’s rights because I think that gets lost in color, or gets lost in cultures. Women make up so much of this world, and, yeah, if I were a man, I would have 100 percent been considered the greatest ever a long time ago.”

Williams and Ohanian have reportedly been dating since the fall of 2015. Congratulations to the happy couple.
