Taylor Gang rapper Chevy Woods is known for a decade’s worth of mixtapes, touring the globe alongside Wiz Khalifa and showing off his impeccable culinary skills on social media. Frequently posting pics of his gourmet delights via Twitter, the Pittsburgh native proves that his meals are just as savory as his music, “cause I can’t stand fast food,” he once tweeted.
Perhaps a catalyst to his high-end hunger is the high-grade greens that he smokes. And with a name like “Woods,” it’s no doubt that he only rolls the best buds inside his Raw brand rolling papers. So whether he’s in the studio, in the kitchen or promoting his upcoming full-length album, Taylor’d due this fall, Chevy is high as a Georgia pine.
For those of us who are not so lucky to live in those privileged, pro-cannabis states such as California, Nevada or Maine, the rest of us will just have to live vicariously through Woods, Wiz and Snoop Dogg.
If we’re lucky, though, some day rolling up trees will be just as commonplace as ordering a beer at Applebee’s. “I think a lot of people are catching on late on legalizing weed,” says Chevy. “But in a year or two, I feel like it will be fully legal to smoke weed everywhere… Let’s just cross our fingers.”
So to give us something to look forward to until that time, see below a list of Chevy’s favorite three strains.
Khalifa Kush (also known as Wiz Khalifa OG or KK)
A hybrid bred specifically for Wiz Khalifa. Supposedly, “the real” Khalifa Kush is unavailable to the public. KK is said to be an indica dominant hybrid (80% indica/20% sativa) strain created as a descendant of O G Kush. The exact genetics of this strain are kept on a hush, as it was bred specifically for Wiz himself by a dispensary in San Jose, CA. This dank bud boasts a powerful 24-27% THC level and insanely active and stimulating effects. They say that the aromas are similar to that of OG Kush: sour lemon and pine.
OG Kush is said to make up the genetic backbone of West Coast cannabis varieties. It’s easily one of the most popular medical marijuana strains today, known specifically for its highly resinous, sticky, and condensed buds that create a full-body warp. It carries an earthy pine and sour lemon scent with woody undertones, an aroma that has become the signature of OG Kush varieties and descendants.
Sour Diesel (also known as called Sour D)
Named after its pungent, diesel-like aroma, this fast-acting strain delivers energizing, dreamy cerebral effects that have pushed Sour Diesel to its legendary status. Sour Diesel strain has a distinct, pungent gassy stench that is coupled with an exciting burst of energy.
