Steve Harvey Dragged for Insensitive Flint Water Joke

Steve Harvey has come a long way since his “Kings of Comedy” and stand-up comedy show days of the 1990’s, but unfortunately, his recent actions have fans looking the other way.

The Family Feud host recently caught flack for taking jabs at the suffering town of Flint for their water crisis over a basketball game. On Wednesday (Jun 14), a Golden State Warrior fan from Flint called into Steve Harvey’s Morning Show to give his opinion on the outcome of the game, when a roast session between Harvey and the caller began. Harvey began his disrespectful roast by reiterating that the caller was from Flint and then going in for the kill.”You from Flint?…That’s why y’all ain’t even got clean water. When was the last time you touched water and it ain’t have lead in  it?”

But Harvey’s insensitivity towards this predominately black community continued even after his co-hosts urged him to stop and change his tone. Everyone could see this was going too far but Harvey. He made a weak attempt to defend his statements but come right behind it with another jab.

“I wasn’t talking about the city of Flint, I was talking about him. … He going to call in, say Cleveland don’t deserve jack, and he over there bathing in all that silver water.”

And for the knockout, Harvey ended his roast with offering the caller a “glass of brown water.”

“Oh and one more thing…enjoy your nice brown glass of water.”

Black twitter wasted little time coming to Flint’s defense. Many are claiming Harvey has allowed his new found fame and income is blocking his judgement.

But most are simply demanding an apology from the comedian including Dr. Karen W. Weaver, Mayor of Flint, and Little Miss Flint.

From Kathy Griffin to Mr. Think Like a Man, it seems that comedians are not able to draw the line between art and disrespect.
