Steve Harvey Urges Rappers to Respect Trump, T.I and D.L. Hughley Respond [Watch Now]

Steve Harvey feels that Snoop Dogg was out of line for his mock assassination of a Donald Trump clown doppelgänger with a gun that only shoots the word “bang” in his new video “Lavender.” The comedian went on his radio talk show Friday morning (March 17) to tell the “truth tellers” to respect the Commander-In-Cheif.

“I’m certain that Snoop doesn’t pose a real threat at all,” said Harvey. “Where we have to be smart about is the way they will bend it and twist it…The problem with all this is that there is an office in this country called the ‘president,’ and you have to respect the office.

He continued, “Whether you want to or not. You have to respect the office. They got laws.”

The radio/TV host then addressed T.I.’s previous statements about Trump and Bow Wow’s since-deleted tweets, in which he threatened to make Melania Trump into a prostitute. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“Be smart with what you say…I love Snoop. Bow Wow, always respectful and cordial with one another, me and T.I. I don’t have no problem with T.I. I love the dude. I’m just saying brothers be smart. You gotta be smart man. All y’all talking got money. You got money, man. You got money and they know how to go after that money. Just be smart, handle your business. Let me tell ya man, leave the first lady out of this. Y’all going down another path with these cats now. You start messing with they wives…I’ll tell y’all you going down another path.”

Longtime friend of Harvey and fellow “king of comedy” D.L. Hughley doesn’t agree. TMZ caught up with him at LAX and asked D.L. his feelings on Steve lambasting Snoop, T.I. and Bow Wow.

“I think if the president is respect worthy, you should do it,” Hughley explains. “But I think with accusing a former president of a felony, he’s insulted our allies, he’s lied. A liar doesn’t deserve respect like that….Fuck your respect.

He goes on, “I love Steve. I do not agree. Respect is a two-way street. I give it to you ’cause I got it. Just today, he’s cutting the funds he promised to give to the inner city…The thing about this cat is: he talks to rappers and actors and comedians pretending that he gives a shit about the problems in the black community.

“You get respect when you get it, and he’s been disrespectful to just about everybody but the except the white supremacists who serve him.”

Those are apparently the same sentiments of T.I., who after the Baller Alert Instagram account posted about Harvey’s statement, commented on the post, “We respect those who respect US. We respect those who respect themselves.”
