T.I. Talks Trap Music, Donald Trump, Lil Wayne and More on ‘Sway’s Universe’

In a recent interview on Sway’s Universe, T.I. talked about everything from being a forerunner of the popular “trap music” sub-genre to his distaste for Donald Trump and even explaining why he called out Lil Wayne for his stance on Black Lives Matter back in November.

“That was the most difficult thing that I’ve had to do,” Tip admits, saying that he considers Wayne a friend and that he has love and respect for Mr. Carter. “It was a knee jerk reaction because I was confronted by my kids asking about it.”

The Atlanta rapper goes on to say that he went on Roland Martin’s show and defended Wayne at first, saying he probably wasn’t aware of all the facts and needed some time to think about it. But when Weezy stood by his statements, T.I.’s social media response was released.

“One thing I will not do, I ain’t gonna let nobody sit around and bash bro,” T.I. continues above. “I feel like I have that relationship with him where I can say that. I’m not gonna sit around and listen to nobody else say that. However he feel about me saying that, me and him we can deal with that when we see each other. He still a legend, he still in my eyes one of the greatest to ever do what we do. In a way I kinda did it so the people wouldn’t be able to do it. I felt like everything I said I said out of love. And I used Instagram as a forum because it was such a public matter. It wasn’t really me speaking to him as much as it is speaking to the kids I know that’s following him.”
