Grammy-winning rapper T.I.’s upscale Atlanta restaurant Scales 925 has been served with an eviction notice for more than $1 million in back rent by its landlord, according to the Atlanta Daily World.
The eviction comes two months after former Scales 925 employees filed a lawsuit alleging unpaid wages. In the suit, the former employees claimed T.I.’s business partner Charles Hughes committed a variety of offenses, including depositing money from the restaurant into his personal bank account, causing paychecks to bounce, and forcing staff to work overtime without compensation.
Tip blames a business partner, Charles Hughes, saying he “disrespected his brand.”
T.I. posted a pic of Hughes on Instagram, saying, “He is NOT associated with me or my company in any capacity. We have NO dealings or partnerships outside of my restaurant . . . which was a HUGE mistake in hindsight.” The image was later deleted.
An August 8 post on Scales 925’s Facebook page indicated the restaurant has come under new management.
