Teyana Taylor Empowers Young Girls in Reebok x Kids Foot Locker Video

Shoe love is eternal, and for sneakerheads, it’s something we pass down to future generations. Reebok ambassador Teyana Taylor is no exception. Husband Iman Shumpert and daughter Junie tagged along for her next visual for the brand, Kids Foot Locker’s video series documenting New York and Los Angeles families sharing their passion for footwear.

Foot Locker calls it “Generations” and nabbed Taylor’s family and young dancers for its first video. Taylor mentors the young girls as they practice.“Some people thinks it’s impossible to still be a mother, still be a wife and do your thing as an artist,” she tells them. Among correcting their dance techniques, the Harlem native elaborates on how to stay true to yourself and live beyond labels. It’s about working with what you have. And Taylor utilizes her past growing up in New York in the 90s—from fashion to directing music videos to dance moves. She prides herself on a retro sense of style.

As the girls turn and twist, their Reebok sneakers hit the gym floor. “I always knew I had a thing for sneakers,” she tells them. At age four, Taylor was rocking black Reebok Freestyle Hi’s, or “5411’s” as often referred to. “From the moment I got my black 5411’s, I wanted to wear all black, every day.” And daughter Junie is already sporting Reebok Classics herself. The tot and Shumpert appeared in pictures clips juxtaposed into the video as Taylor expresses how her family, especially her  daughter, gives her confidence.

“I’m thrilled any time I have the opportunity to interact with and inspire young girls,” the artist later commented on her work with Kids Foot Locker, “Passing on my knowledge and sharing common bonds is so critical to the next generation’s success.”
