Trevor Noah has been known to keep things all the way real on The Daily Show, so when right-wing television host Tomi Lahren came on his show, fans expected nothing different.
During the interview, Trevor held no punches when speaking to the 24-year-old host about her apparent anger with current events, opening with the question, “Why are you so angry?”
Lahren stated that she wasn’t angry, but simply calling people on their “shit”, but when Trevor Noah started breaking down her rants line by line, it left Tomi utterly rambling and regurgitating the same rhetoric.
“You went off about Colin Kaepernick, that was one of your highest viewed Facebook videos”, Trevor said, “But I always wanted to ask, how does a man kneeling silently in the corner effect you? It’s not like he’s singing louder over everyone, he’s silently taking a stand.”
Unable to respond to the question without dragging in the “patriotism” argument, Lahren was left repeating herself without a point.
Lahren is reportedly more popular than Donald Trump on Facebook and her rhetoric fits right in with plenty of his campaign stances, with a focus on Black Lives Matter. It’s definitely one of the first times we’ve seen Noah get heated during an interview, reminiscent of Jon Stewart taking on Jonah Goldberg or Jim Cramer.
But on the flipside of this interview, it was great to see two people on completely opposite sides of a spectrum regarding a hot topic including race and politics to have a civil conversation without it resulting in name calling.
