Tyga is definitely paying homage in his new video for “Move To L.A.” featuring Ty Dolla $ign. The song is inspired by Mase’s 1997 hit, “What You Want” featuring Total. So it’s only right.
The video starts off with Tyga on the phone with his girl and asking her to fly out to Los Angeles for a fashion show that he is hosting. Eventually the visual shows Tyga and Ty Dolla $ign floating around in matching yellow jogging suits. Similar to Puff Daddy and Mase in the Hype Williams directed video for “Mo Money, Mo Problems.”
In “Move To L.A.”, Tyga even samples his lyrics to go along with with the whole Bad Boy nostalgia concept.
“Girl in my eyes you the baddest/the reason why I love you, you don’t like me ’cause my status/To see you living average, I’d be offended/if they see you with me, they gon’ wanna take pictures/Bitch so bad, I’m just trying to get your face in it/I’m just trying to Jay Leno, you know step late with you.”
