A woman in a wheelchair is giving a whole new meaning to the term “riding dirty”.
On Tuesday (Jun 13), Fox 5 NY reported that after arriving at New York’s Kennedy airport after a trip from St. Lucia, it was discovered that Yoncela Stanley, a U.S. citizen, was carrying 27 lbs of cocaine with a street value of nearly $500,000 in her seat cushion. Customs agents became alerted by Stanley’s nervous demeanor and the fact that the seat cushion felt heavier than usual.
“This latest seizure demonstrates the vigilance of our CBP officers, and their excellence in detecting those who would try to smuggle these illegal substances,” Acting Director, Field Operations Leon Hayward said.
Stanley will face smuggling charges and will be prosecuted by the U.S Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District Court of New York. Talk about “high roller”.
