R&B quartet Xscape will kick off their comeback tour at Time Inc.’s 2017 ESSENCE Festival presented by Coca-Cola. The reunion marks the group’s first full live show in over 15 years. Xcsape is slated to perform on Sunday, July 2, a night headlined by Festival first-timer Chance the Rapper, along with Master P, Solange and more at the Superdome in New Orleans, LA.
Xscape, who recently announced the reunion of all four original members Kandi Burruss, LaTocha Scott, Tamika Scott and Tameka “Tiny” Harris, will perform a full set from their chart-topping portfolio of classic R&B staples in one of the Festival’s four intimate Superlounges.
“We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the return of Xscape than in New Orleans with our fans at the world-famous, Essence Festival,” the group said in a statement. “Essence Fest is so much more than a music festival, it’s a celebration of culture, music and entertainment. We are excited and honored to be included in an incredible line up of artists and performers, including the living legend, Diana Ross!”
As previously reported in February during an interview with V103′s Big Tigger in Atlanta, Xscape members Kandi Burress, Tiny Harris and Tameka Scott revealed the major news that they would be hitting the road for the first time in 19 years to perform their greatest hits. Latocha Scott, who was not present during the interview, took to Twitter to echo the news as well with a tweet confirming that a reunion with all four members was indeed happening.

Xscape formed in 1992 after signing with Jermaine Dupri’s label So So Def. The group had three consecutive Platinum albums along with six top 10 hit songs on the Billboard Hot 100 during the 1990s including “Just Kickin’ It,” “Who Can I Run To,” “The Arms of the One Who Loves You,” and “My Little Secret.” A new album and documentary on their lives is also in the works.
