Young M.A opened for Alicia Keys on the song bird’s single “Blended Family (What You Do for Love)” on The Tonight Show Saturday night.

Taking the place of A$AP Rocky, who is featured on the album version of the song, M.A performed an original verse about her own family upbringing.

“Growing up I had a little sister, older brother/And for us a father figure was a single mother/My daddy was locked up, my mother was knocked up/And every now and then my brother’s father would pop up/But I considered him dad/Because he would give me basically anything that I asked/Fresh kicks for the summer, I would crease ’em and scuff ’em/Goose coat for the winter with a new pair of butters (Ooouuu)/He treated me like I was his/A single mother, no daddy, that’s just how we lived,” she raps.

Young M.A has been quickly blowing up with her breakthrough single “OOOUUU,” climbed into the top 10 of Billboard‘s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The Red Lyfe rapper also recently claimed a spot in the newest Beats By Dre ad along with Nicki Minaj, Travi$ Scott and Michael Phelps.
