Remember the name, A.Chal. The L.A. based singer’s whimsical ballads have been working magic on the underground scene for a couple years, and now he’s looking like he’s ready for the mainstream.
The Peru-born singer was 4 years old when he moved to the States, landing in Queens, N.Y. In 2010, he switched coasts to pursue his musical passion, posting up in Los Angeles. After three years in L.A., he released the EP, Ballroom Riots in 2013.
He grabbed attention with the release of the track, “Round Whippin,” in 2015 and follow-up singles “Gazi” and “Vibe W/U.” With his name popping, he released his debut independent album, Welcome to Gazi, last June.
Chal’s presence continues to grow due to recent performances at Rolling Loud Festival and SXSW. He’s also on the lineup for the Pemberton Music Festival in July.
Earlier this month, he dropped his latest mixtape, On Gaz. The project boasts guest appearances from French Montana and A$AP Nast. Earlier this week, he announced he’d be headlining the On Gaz Tour, in support of the project. The 10-city jaunt kicks off in Aug. 23 in Santa Ana, Calif., hitting up cities like Houston, Chicago, Toronto and New York, before closing out in West Hollywood, Calif., on Sept. 17.
