Bobby Brown Reportedly Upset About Upcoming Bobbi Kristina Biopic

After the success of the New Edition biopic on BET, TV One has been working on a fictionalized biopic of the life of Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina’s life. According to The Jasmine Brand, Bobby is highly pissed that the producers failed to ask his approval.

“The rights were sold to the biopic before he had any knowledge of it. He was blindsided,” a source told the celebrity news outlet.

Another source said, however, “TV One doesn’t have to clear anything through him.”

Demetria McKinney is reportedly playing Bobbi Kristina’s mother, Whitney Houston, who will sing the late singer’s songs due to an inability to get clearance on her music.

Although the network has yet to make an official announcement about the biopic, McKinney did share a few words after receiving negative comments on her decision to play the role.

“I have the utmost respect for Whitney Houston and those who have followed me through the years know that,” she said. “I am NOT an opportunistic person and wouldn’t post, do, say, or be a part of anything that would diminish the light that she is nor the light of her life : BK. That’s part of the problem, we get emotionally charged over things we do not know or have a full understanding of. Even a criminal is innocent until proven guy so it’s only right that If a biopic is made and you choose to watch it, you pass judgement then.”
