Squidnice is putting on for the Island of Staten in more ways than one.

It hasn’t taken long for the 20-year-old Empire State MC to catch his wave. He released the hood anthem, “Trap by My Lonely” in 2015, which ended up drawing over 1 million views on SoundCloud with fan latching on to his plodding flow and big production . He followed that up with the single, “Everywhere I Go,” last year.

Squid parlayed the newfound visibility and fame into fashion gigs with Hood by Air and Carrot. Lately, he’s added to his catalog with new bangers “Nina,” “OMG” and “Clout,” as he continues to build a solid fans base.

This year as well, S-Q has recently boosted his stock with performances at 2017 SXSW and 10.Deep’s Culture Clash and plans to strike while the iron is hot by releasing his new mixtape, The Craccen later this month. Keeping it 100 is the key.

“I’m never gonna talk about a watch I don’t have or a car I’m not driving. I talk about what’s really going on my life. If I’m broke, I’m broke. I speak the truth. I just make it sound good,” he recently told Mass Appeal. “I will forever be myself. I’m Crippin’ out here with my nails painted half the time. I think I get a lot of step out of just being genuine.”
