Cam’ron Live Streams His Side of Strained Friendship with Jim Jones

The story is slowly unraveling as to what caused a strain on the friendship between Cam’ron and Jim Jones years ago.

On Wednesday (Feb 8), Jones broke down and was literally crying during an emotional interview on Hot 97 with Funkmaster Flex, where he explained his relationship with Dipset head honcho Cam’ron and the structure of Dipset. Let Jimmy tell it, he was everything to Dipset–from hypeman to manager to muscle. He said that he was always 10 toes down with Cam but didn’t feel the love in return.

In response, The Killa Season rapper went live on Instagram yesterday (Feb. 11) in response to Jones’ interview.

As a heads up earlier in the day, Cam posted text to Instagram saying “Ima go live 2mr night at 9pm..I ain’t gonna be [crying emoji] either.” He captioned the text “Traveling 2day.. So 2mr it is.. Have a extra phone or computer.. So u can goggle what I’m talking bout.. While I’m talking.. Cause crying don’t meant it’s the truth lol. 😜#IdontDoFiction.”

The stream opens minutes before the hour with his fiancée Juju to dancing to R. Kelly’s “Happy People.” Once the clock struck 9, Cam started to break down impromptu autobiography of growing up in Harlem, meeting Mase and how he and Jones became friends.

He then goes on to contradict many of Jimmy’s statements, saying that always supported his friend. “How the hell was I hating, when I was advocating for this dude to become a rapper?,” Cam asked rhetorically. “That shit is lies, bro. Word to my mama.”

Cam also said that Jimmy was never his manager or his enforcer. “He was not my muscle…He was my man. He was my hypeman.

He adds, “We didn’t grow up together. We got cool at 20 years old. Jim never had the guns, B…I had the guns. Google it.”

Cam believes that their friendship got rocky after Jones began to date Chrissy Lampkin, who he’s still with to this day. Cam said that he did not know their relationship would last, so he would throw friendly shade at Jim for showering her with gifts so early in their relationship.

“Jim just met Chrissy and he’s buying her bags and shoes the first two or three weeks he met her,” he said.

As a joke, Cam had some t-shirts made poking fun at Jones for “trickin’.” The shirts read “Tricky Ricky aka Jim Jones Is A Trick,” Cam said, and he would encourage their other friends to wear them in the studio. He didn’t think, however, that Jim would take the joke to heart.

“It was just a joke, he took that shit serious… To this day, I’ll be man enough, I’ll apologize about that,” he said. “That’s when that shit fell out, after I made them shirts.”

When Cam finished saying his peace, he said that he still has love for Jones. “I want Jim to succeed. I’m happy he’s happy. I don’t know if he’s happy or not. I want him to win,” Cam said. “I don’t got no beef with you…I really love you.”
