RZA Unveils Contemporary Menswear Line, 36 Chambers

Wu-Tang Clan’s founder, RZA, has teamed up with creative Mustafa Shaikh to launch 36 Chambers, a contemporary menswear line that fuses elements of hip-hop, Chinese culture and high fashion to carve its own niche within menswear.

“36 Chambers is inspired by the Wu philosophy: kung fu, mathematics, Eastern philosophy and art,” said RZA. “Using that as a foundation, we’ve blended together the rugged feel of streetwear, with the quality craftsmanship of high fashion, to create apparel with a classic look.”

The initial collection features the Golden Dragon, which symbolizes energy, wisdom and strength. The dragon design is featured in a custom woven jacquard fabric created by San Francisco-based designer, Chapin Atchison. The fabric is found on the liners of the jackets, bags, and on the collars and plackets of select shirts. Renowned Chinese calligrapher, Mak Ming Chan, penned a poem for the collection, which details the story of the Golden Dragon. Written in Chinese calligraphy, the poem is featured on the hangtag that adorns the jackets, bags and shirts.

“We put a lot of attention into the execution of the line to ensure that each limited piece told a story,” said Mustafa Shaikh. “Every detail—the embroidery work, to the liner, to even the hangtag—was thoughtfully considered in order to tell a cohesive narrative.”

Items from the collection include limited edition jackets, shirts, bags, and accessories. A women’s souvenir jacket will also be made available for purchase.

Nicki Minaj and Beyonce’ Steal the Spotlight at Tidal X: 1015

Nicki Minaj and Beyonce’ Steal the Spotlight at Tidal X: 1015

The recent photos of Nicki Minaj and Beyonce’ from music streaming company Tidal’s charity concert has had the internet on fire. They completely stole the spotlight at the Tidal X: 1015 concert event held in support of Robin Hood, an organization that fights poverty and supports education in New York City.

The two were among the list of performers including Common, Alicia Keys and Lauren Hill but all anyone seems to be talking about is Barbie and Queen B.

Beyonce and Nicki Minaj

Last year at Tidal’s very first charity concert Tidal X 1020, the two performed their song “Feelin’ Myself” and solidified the fact they’re two of the baddest in the game. Visuals are still circulating from the epic performance and with Tidal’s second annual show this year, Tidal X 1015, the two had no shortage of the limelight flying solo.

Pictures of Nicki Minaj and Beyonce have been swirling around the internet and social media since the two stepped on the Tidal black carpet Saturday.

Both ladies showed up to the red carpet in an all-black sheer number, and as most divas do, commenced to a mid-show wardrobe change. Nicki Minaj started out the show in a lace see-through bodysuit with pasties covering her “twins” and lace up, open-toe booties with a gold-embellished wedge.

She amped up her chic ensemble during her performance of hits like “Roman’s Revenge” and “Monster” by adding a patent leather asymmetrical peplum jacket. Though she shyly covered her fatty on the carpet, screening it with her hands from paparazzi, she let it all hang out on stage as she twerked to “Trap Queen” before letting Fetty Wap takeover for a moment.

The twerk was a highlight of the night; she had the audience shook and the video is all over social media. She finished off the night a bit more modest in an all white look complete with a fur coat, romper and strappy white heels.

As the Queen, who can never be outdone, Beyonce went through four, yes four, wardrobe changes first showing up in an all black embellished see through gown complimented by black Louboutin So Kate pumps. It would be a faux pas not to mention her thigh-length braided high ponytail, which was an accessory on its own.

Beyonce hit the stage for her flawless holographic intro with a long sleeve, high-neck lame’ dress with semi-sheer bottom. She then entered into her performance with a bodysuit (of course) in metallic gold with ribbing details structured around her curves paired with thigh high black sparkling boots. During the performance she had a slight wardrobe malfunction after ripping her earring out and still managed to perform flawlessly though she was bleeding. The Beehive then granted Beyonce the title ‘best performer alive’. Bey ended the show performing “All Night” in a gold and teal floral embroidered pant suit and spread the message of the importance to vote.

The events of the night are sure to have your timelines buzzing for a while, who knows maybe we’ll still be talking about them again until this time next year. The beautiful ladies stole the show again and once more, all Tidal X hashtags lead to Nicki and Bey. Check out their show-stopping looks from the carpet to the stage.
