Chuck Berry Dead at 90

Legendary guitarist, singer, songwriter and rock and roll music pioneer Chuck Berry died Saturday (March 18) in his home near Wentzville, Mo. He was 90.

The St. Charles County Police Department confirmed his death on its Facebook page. The department reported that officers responded to a medical emergency on Buckner Road at approximately 12:40 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

Inside the home, first responders observed an unresponsive man and immediately administered lifesaving techniques. Unfortunately, he could not be revived and was pronounced deceased at 1:26 p.m.

Berry (born Charles Edward Anderson Berry) molded rhythm and blues into the major components that invented rock and roll. He is best-known for songs such as “Maybellene” (1955), “Roll Over Beethoven” (1956), “Rock and Roll Music” (1957) and “Johnny B. Goode” (1958).
