This weekend thousands of hip-hop, r&b and alternative music fans are headed to the windy city for Pitchfork’s annual music festival. The festival kicks off today with live performances from Tierra Whack (who replaced rapper Earl Sweatshirt at the last minute), Syd, Big Thief and Chicago native and frequent Chance the Rapper collaborator, Saba.
Legendary acts such as Raphael Saadiq and Chaka Khan are also scheduled to take the stage at the festival in addition to DRAM, Kelela, Kweku Collins, Noname, Ravyn Lenae, and Smino. The festival leads up to a headlining performance from Lauryn Hill, who is celebrating 20 years of her ground-breaking solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
The Pitchfork Music Festival is celebrating its 13th year in highlighting the best in new and emerging music. More than 50,000 people from all ages and all across the country are expected to attend this year’s festival.
