E-40 Settles Kodak Black, Lil Yachty and D.R.A.M. ‘Broccoli’ Argument

While Kodak Black has been barking about use of the slang term for marijuana in D.R.A.M. and Lil Yachty’s hit song “Broccili” and even banning rappers from saying it altogether, triple OG E-40 recently weighed in on the squabble. As it turns out, the Bay Area rapper originated the term back in 1990s.

And he backs up his claim with a post of a clip from his 1993 music video “Practice Lookin’ Hard” where he rapped, “Got me a baggy full of broccoli and a crooked Ides 22/I feel great.” 40 Water even holds up a small bag of weed as he recites the line.

In the caption, the Vallejo vet comments: “In 1993 I refer weed as BROCCOLI On my song ‘Practice Looking Hard’ In 1998 I made a song called ‘BROCCOLI’ On my Gold double album ‘The Element of Surprise’ #PROBLEMSOLVED #BROCCOLI Fuck beef get money! 💸.”

Last week, Kodak claimed in an Instagram post that he invented the term broccoli as a reference for weed. After playing a clip of D.R.A.M.’s “Broccoli,” he turns down the music to express his disapproval.

“Man, what the fuck, man?” the Florida rapper says. “Who these niggas is jocking my lil’ swag, man, talking bout broccoli, man. Nah, I’m saying you niggas don’t smoke broccoli. Look for now on, man, I don’t smoke broccoli no more. I smoke cantaloupe since y’all square ass niggas tryna jack the swag. I smoke cantaloupe now.”

He then posted another video when he banned other artists from using the word broccoli altogether.

“You niggas can’t say broccoli no more,” he said. “You niggas gotta say spinach or some shit. You niggas don’t smoke broccoli; y’all smoke spinach.”
