Facebook Bans Louis Farrakhan, Snoop Dogg Speaks Out

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan has been banned from Facebook and Instagram on claims that that minister is “dangerous,” the social media platform announced this afternoon.

“We’ve always banned individuals or organizations that promote or engage in violence and hate, regardless of ideology,” a Facebook spokesperson told CNN Business in a statement. “The process for evaluating potential violators is extensive and it is what led us to our decision to remove these accounts today.”

The Facebook spokesperson also said other reasons for banishment include persons or organizations that ever called for violence against individuals “based on race, ethnicity, or national origin; whether the person has been identified with a hateful ideology; whether they use hate speech or slurs in their about section on their social media profiles; and whether they have had pages or groups removed from Facebook for violating hate speech rules.”

The social media platform also purged “InfoWars” conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, right-wing provocateur Milo Yiannapolis, Paul Joseph Watson, an Infowars contributor, and Paul Nehlen, a white nationalist who ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 2018.

In many cases when the Silicon Valley company silences an individual or organization, it also censors others from supporting them on the site. But that didn’t stop Snoop Dogg from expressing his opinion on the situation.

“All he ever do is tell the truth,” the Los Angeles rapper said in an Instagram video. “But y’all gone ban him, though. What if we ban y’all? What if we stop fucking with y’all, Facebook and Instagram? How the fuck y’all gone ban Min. Louis Farrakhan? For putting truth out there. I stand with him. Ban me, muthafucka. Ban me. Because I’m gon’ keep posting his shit, I’mma keep putting Minister Louis Farrakhan out there.”

Hours later, Big Snoop Dogg came back with another video and challenged others to take a stand against Farrakhan’s banishment from the social media platform. “If you don’t with it like I’m down with it,” he says, “post your favorite Min. Louis Farrakhan video on your Instagram or Facebook page. Show some love to a real brother. Post it right now. They got footage everywhere.”
