After cracking open the mainstream with several certified gold singles, platinum awards and a slew of award nominations, Future says that he plans to return to a more grassroots sounds.
Hendrix revealed to international DJ Zane Lowe in a recent interview that his new album will return to a back-to-basics sound.
“I just feel like I want to go back to being a more underground [rapper],” Future says in a preview of the interview posted today (Feb. 15) on the The Beats 1 Twitter account. “Just reconnecting with the fans, just more hands-on, being back with my fans.”

In another audio clip, Future says he doesn’t want to be tied to recent projects like What a Time to Be Alive and DS2 the fans will understand him more. “This album might be tied into my first mixtape that I ever dropped or might be tied into my second mixtape so everybody can really understand visually and creatively where I can go with it when I make music. I’m not just doing it just to put songs out,” he says.
