Even though the Chicago MC remains optimistic about President Trump’s tweet last month about sending the Feds into his hometown, Chance The Rapper still feels threatened by the Commander in Chief.

“I hope he’s coming in to do some type of federal overturn of our state and city budgets in terms of schooling and housing,” he said during the interview on The Undefeated for his and Chicago Bulls forward Jimmy Butler’s cover story for ESPN: The Magazine.

“I’m tired of niggas talking about Chicago like it’s a Third World country. Like, that it’s not a place of booming business with a very successful downtown and all types of new development. It sounds like he was announcing he was going to war with Chicago.”

Late December, the President gave a viral heads-up to any would-be criminals in Chi-city, and he took to Twitter to send a warning.

“If Chicago doesn’t fix the horrible ‘carnage’ going on,” he tweeted, “228 shootings in 2017 with 42 killings (up 24% from 2016), I will send in the Feds!”

Chance further explained his feelings with a comment made in the video embedded below. “I can only expect that he means he’s gonna, from a federal level, help out with, you know, the teachers’ strike and the union issues,” he said. “I don’t like to think that he, you know, said what he meant or meant what he said.”

Chano made history Sunday night (Feb. 12), becoming the first unsigned artist in history to win “Best New Artist” at the Grammys, after beating out Anderson.Paak and The Chainsmokers.

The Chicago MC was presented the award by Jennifer Lopez and on stage by Peter Cottontale and his manager Pat.

“Glory be to God,” he said while at the podium. “I claim this victory in the name of the Lord. Let’s go!”
