Jay Z

Jay Z shut down a reporter this week when asked his thoughts on President Donald Trump. The Roc Nation boss was in Utah this week for the Sundance Film Festival, supporting the documentary TIME: The Kalief Browder Story, which he executive produced.

In the clip, the reporter asks his thoughts on the new POTUS, and Jigga says,

“No, I’m not gonna answer that.”

Movie executive, Harvey Weinstein, whose Weinstein Company also partnered with the project, intervenes and tells the press,

“Alright guys that’s enough. This is a labor of love for Jay and as a result he’s gonna talk about that and nothing else.”

As previously reported, TIME: The Kalief Browder Story, is a six-part docu-series centered around the life of Kalief Browder, who was wrongfully imprisoned at the age of 16.

Browder maintained his innocence throughout his imprisonment on false charges of robbery and despite being imprisoned without conviction for three years, Browder refused to take the plea bargain for a crime he didn’t commit although that would have released him. During the time, however, Browder was held in solitary confinement and experienced mistreatment by both officers and prisoners.

Upon being released from Rikers Island in 2013, Browder became the voice against wrongful convictions and a champion for criminal justice reform in New York City. Despite making a huge impact, Browder ended up committing suicide two years later by hanging himself.

Jay Z previously spoke on the film, saying,

“Kalief Browder is a modern-day prophet; his story a failure of the judicial process. A young man, and I emphasize young man, who lost his life because of a broken system. His tragedy has brought atrocities to light and now we must confront the issues and events that occurred so other young men can have a chance at justice.”

TIME: The Kalief Browder Story is made up of six parts, and the first two parts premiered this week at Sundance.

The Kalief Browder Story will air on Spike TV later this year.
