Even though he is currently serving a 30-month sentence in Illinois on felony gun possession charges, Kevin Gates’ wife Dreka is still putting together the Baton Rogue rapper’s forthcoming project on his own and recently shared the news on Twitter.
“BTW working on Kevin’s new project right now 😬and I’m not going to lie, I’m nervous as F b/c I’m not getting any input from him 😩,” she shared in several tweets. “& he’s fully entrusted me w/everything so there’s a lot of pressure! I respect real artists and their artistry and to be making ALL of the decisions is scary but rest assured the music is always fire🔥 as F! 😌.”

As previously reported, Gates was re-arrested just as authorities were about to release him from a Florida jail back in April after serving a 180-day sentence and extradited to Illinois. A warrant had been issued after he failed to appear in court on gun charges stemming from 2013.
The celebrity news outlet says that the Baton Rogue, La. rapper, who has been in jail since March 30, will be transferred to the Illinois Department of Corrections.
In a statement to TMZ, Gates’ lawyer Herschel Rush said the charges carried a maxium of 10 years in prison, so the team is “very pleased with the result of 30 months.”
Even while on lock, he managed to drop brand new single “What If” three weeks ago. On the heated track, he spits:
