Lil Yachty and Funkmaster Flex Exchange Verbal Gunfire on Social Media

Normally, he takes beef with a grain of salt but Lil Yachty dismissively clapped back at Funkmaster Flex on Saturday after being dissed by the radio DJ on-air last week.

“If it ain’t one hot 97 dj it’s another lmao,” the Atlanta rapper tweeted, in response to Flex, who called him a “mumble rapper.”

“You know nothin’ about (bars). You know why? Because you’re a mumble rapper, Bow Wow … Lil Yachty, you don’t want nothing too. Neither of you niggas want nothing,” Flex screamed on his radio show. “2017, mumble rappers are finished.”

Hours after dismissing Flex’s comments, Boat then took to Instagram to respond to the criticism. He posted the clip of Flex going for the young rapper’s jugular on the radio with the caption “bro dis shit so funny.” Flex returned verbal fire on his own account, further dissing the rapper, and suggesting he battle Murda Mook.

From there, the two exchanged blows in the comment section. Yatchy even admits that Mook would murder in a rap battle. “I’m sure Murda Mook would kill me in a rap battle,” he admitted, “but ask him to see me in streams/sales/ or on the charts. It’s easy to write a verse but how easy is it to make a stamp on the culture?”

“You black and I’m black,” he continued. “I’m younger than you and I’m out here hustling, making a name for myself, feeding my family, promoting positivity and having fun and u upset because you don’t like my music lmao because I don’t have enough bars. I bet u haven’t even listen to my tape.”

This isn’t the first time that Boat has had negative run-ins with Hot 97 DJs. He got on DJ Ebro’s bad side when he said that the Notorious B.I.G was overrated and that he’s never listened to Tupac. Most recently, however, he returned to Ebro Darden and Beats 1 Radio to raise the the white flag. The Atlanta upstart revealed that he doesn’t like the term “mumble rap” used to describe his generation’s music and that he doesn’t mumble in his rhymes.

He explained to Ebro,

“To this day, I feel like I was wrong for speaking about something like that without taking a second to listen. Before I said that I was in the blind. I feel like I owe an apology. I didn’t think before I spoke on that topic. I know now how important and just how serious it is to some people. I didn’t want people thinking that I was disrespecting him because it wasn’t a disrespect thing. That’s just my personal opinion. My dad did not play Biggie or Tupac so I had never heard it… Until about two weeks ago, I had never listened to a Biggie song…I’m not going to sit here and lie and say I just bump him. But I know for a fact he was spitting…”
