Luke James Returns to R&B with New Single, “Drip” [Watch]

R&B/Soul singer Luke James turns up the heat with his latest single, “Drip”. After taking a brief hiatus from music to break into acting, the singer returns with a smooth, sensual track that is a sure to be a favorite on your late night playlist. “Drip” is produced and written by James, along with Zshakira Gray, Anthony Clemons and City High’s Ryan Toby. This single is the first off of James’ upcoming sophomore album, Joy, that is expected to be released sometime this year.

In the song, James sings over classic, old-school style production about his adoration and attraction to his lady love. “Feeling on your booty / But I’d rather feel your soul / Girl I know you ain’t Janet / But I like you in Control,” he sings. Along with the single’s release on iTunes, James dropped an uber sexy lyric video to accompany it.

Luke James first hit the music scene back in 2011 with his hit record “I Want You”. Since then he’s earned two Grammy nominations (Best R&B Performance in 2012 for “I Want You” and Best R&B Song in 2014 for “Options”), a Soul Train Music Award, and was personally chosen by Beyonce to be the opening act for her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour. His 2017 break out role as Johnny Gill in BET’s The New Edition Story has fans new and old discovering the New Orleans native impressive vocal chops as well as his acting ability. James recently appeared on an episode of Issa Rae’s hit television series, Insecure and is set to make an appearances on season two FOX’s Star and the Biggie/Tupac crime series, Unsolved.
