Yesterday, Meek Mill released the first installment to a video trilogy leading up to the July 21 release of his upcoming album Wins and Losses. And today (July 19), the Philly rapper dropped chapter 2 of his drama-filled mini-movie.
Chapter , titled “The Rebirth,” shows the thin line between life and death. As a frantic young man in a bloody hoody races up and down hospital halls in search of a pregnant mother on the delivery table giving birth, another man is seen with blood dripping from his head. Meek makes a brief cameo in hospital scrubs in one scene and recites the lyrics to a song amidst the unfolding story line.
Chapter 2, titled “The Trap,” takes place earlier that day. The scene opens with a carload of criminals putting on gloves and loading up to commit a drive-by shooting. “Hey nigga, fuck you lookin’ nervous for? You alright?” one backseat rider asks another. The other man responds like O Dog in Menace 2 Society. “Fuck you mean, I’m nervous? Man, I’m ’bout to murder shit. I’m killing anything moving.”
After showing the shooters’ intended targets, the video shows the same woman giving birth from chapter one and the young man running in the hospital at home with family. Suddenly, her water breaks. Then the camera cuts back to the block. As Meek is heard freestyling on the corner, cats are hustling, hanging out and shooting dice, as the car full of shooters eases up. But before they can come out with their firepower, they are noticed.
The block bleeders run for their guns. The drive-by shooters start unloading. And all Vietnam is unleashed on the block. Multiple gunshots from both sides are exchanged before the driver of the car is hit and crashes into the back of another parked vehicle. The front seat passenger bails. One of the backseat passengers gets shot. Then, the other one flees the scene after sending more slugs.
The man who was suffering from a bullet wound to the head in chapter 1 is seen to be part of that gunfight.
