Sean Price Posthumous Album is Officially Dropping Soon

August 8 will mark two years since Sean Price was found dead in his sleep in his Brooklyn, NY apartment. Observing the two-year anniversary of Price’s death, Duck Down Records recently announced the upcoming release of the Boot Camp Clik veteran’s first posthumous album via a video on Twitter.

Imperius Rex is scheduled to be released on August 8 and is being fueled by Stu Bangas-produced lead single “Definition of God.”

Price was a member of the hip hop collective Boot Camp Clik and was half of the duo Heltah Skeltah. Performing under the name Ruckus (sometimes abbreviated as Ruck), along with partner Rock, Price paid his dues as a member of Smif-N-Wessun on their 1995 album Dah Shinin’ and came back in 1996 as one-half of Brooklyn duo Heltah Skeltah. They dropped their debut album Nocturnal on Duck Down Records that same year. The duo went on to release 1998’s Magnum Force and 2008’s D.I.R.T. albums

In 2005, Price solidified himself as a solo artist with album Monkey Barz and followed it up in 2007 with Jesus Price Supastar and later with Mic Tyson in 2012. Duck Down recently released a limited Silverback Gorilla Box Set that included his entire solo catalogue.
