The Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez On Me will be released in theatres on Friday June 16, the day that would have been the iconic MC’s 46th birthday and will star Demetrius Shipp Jr. as the iconic MC.
Lionsgate’s Summit Entertainment acquired the U.S. rights to the Morgan Creek Entertainment film that chronicles 2Pac’s life which entailed being born to a Black Panther, Afeni Shakur, and going on to becoming a great poet, actor, activist and Hip-Hop legend. The film will also detail his jail stint and his time on Death Row Records.
All Eyez On Me was directed by Benny Boom and also stars Danai Gurira, Kat Graham, Dominic Santana, Jamal Woolard, Keith Robinson, Lauren Cohan and Hill Harper.
In related news, the 25th anniversary edition of Juice, which stared Tupac, was released on DVD earlier this month. The re-release features unseen footage, interviews from director Ernest Dickerson, producer David Heyman and the film’s co-stars Omar Epps, Khalil Kain and Jermaine Hopkins.
