Popular liquor brand Smirnoff is joining the list of companies to take shots at President Trump in their latest marketing ad and social media reacted in a major way.
The ad which takes aim at Trump’s reported “too close for comfort” ties to Russia reads, “Made In America…But we’d be happy to talk about our ties to Russia under oath.”
If you didn’t know, Smirnoff is a brand that happens to be a Russian company, which makes this clap back even sweeter. While the liquor brand would not say whether the ad was a direct response to ongoing controversies plaguing the Trump White House, a Smirnoff U.S. spokesperson told CBS News in a statement, “Smirnoff has been made in America for more than eight decades. The recent interest in American-made products created the perfect opportunity to reinforce that fact and the brand’s roots in Russia — with a wink and nod to current affairs.”
Smirnoff’s ad comes just after Trump told the media that he would testify under oath about the ongoing allegations that Russian officials meddled in our 2016 President Election.
