Ugly God Talks Overnight Success and New Album [Watch]

Houston-bred online sensation Ugly God may have seemed to appear out of nowhere but according to the young artist, it’s been a long time coming.

In an interview short with Los Angeles’s Power 106 FM, the 20-year old reveals that his career choice originally started with a dream of making it and recording in his basement.

“It’s crazy because I used to record this shit in my house, in my basement. Now I can afford to go to the studio and record because I am rich and famous.”

Ugly God also revealed how the internet played a huge role in his success and getting his music out to the masses.

“It’s crazy that the internet is powerful like I literally recorded the verses in my house and uploaded it online and people began to notice. Like people don’t understand the internet is that powerful.”

Not all business, Ugly God also talks about what catches his eye with the ladies and why booties keep him captivated.

“I am a booty person,” Ugly God said. “When I see a booty, I can’t stop staring. ”

Although the booty keeps him captivated, Ugly God says there’s more to music than “booty and bitches”, his raps are meant to impress the importance of individuality, of being authentic and organic.

“Music isn’t really about the lyrics as much — it’s about how the music makes you feel.”
