Someone call 9-1-1 or maybe not. Wyclef Jean was handcuffed by Los Angeles authorities during an early Tuesday search for an armed robbery suspect.
Not pleased with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department mixup, The Fugees rhymer hit up Twitter and posted about the incident saying,
I was asked by the police to Put my hands up. Then I was told do not move. I was instantly hand cuffed before being asked to identify myself

Nor was I told why I was being cuffed. In the process I said my name and told them they have wrong person.

They proceeded to ignore me and I was treated like a criminal until other police showed up and pointed out they had wrong person.

I am sure no father wants his sons or daughters to see him in Handcuffs especially if he is innocent.

As some one who has law enforcers in my family, I was appalled by this behavior of the LAPD.

He also added,
“LAPD another case of mistaken identity. Black man with red bandana robbed a gas station as I was in the studio working but im in handcuffs?”
Pissing off the rapper even more, he also stated,
“They just took off my Haitian bandana. That’s what’s going on with Wyclef in L.A. right now.”
The Los Angeles sheriff’s department also confirmed the detainment and told NBC Los Angeles that “deputies detained Jean after an armed robbery at a gas station just after 1 a.m. PT (4 a.m. ET) in the West Hollywood area.
The suspect was described as an armed black male wearing a gray- or dark-colored hoodie with a red bandana, and was seen fleeing in a gold or tan Toyota sedan, police said.
Following the robbery, a West Hollywood patrol unit observed a vehicle matching the description given by witnesses, the sheriff’s department told NBC News. Jean had on a red bandana and was ordered out of the car.
Officers placed him in handcuffs but he was released when it was determined he was not the suspect.”
