T.I. stopped by Power 105 in New York last week and sat down with Angie Martinez while he was in town to pay tribute and help induct Tupac Shakur into the 2017 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The King of The South talked about a few issues including his pending divorce from his wify Tiny and his dislike for Trump. Speaking of the self-serving Presidnt, Tip called him “the poster boy for white supremacy,” adding, “If white supremacy was a corporation, he’d have the leading endorsement and he’s not even bashful about it.”
In reagards to his relationship issues, T.I. also confirmed that there was no heated annomasity betweenhim and his wife. He told Angie,
“There is no beef, we good, we straight. Everybody else the one that got the problem. We straight, We see each othe. We speak, we talk. We spend time together. We good. She’s still one of the best friends I have in the world. I can just be a better best friend than a husband.”
Giving more insight to the split, The King also revealed that his selfishness could be an issue for the break-up because he had bigger goals he was trying to accomplish. He added,
” I’m on a mission. I’m striving to take my family, its name, and our legacy as far and high as it can possibly go. And in my life there will be two different things. There will be people, places and things that help me get there and there will be people, places and things that distract me and deter me from getting there. And it seems like to me, marriage, and what mariage means is just one of those thngs that’s gone distract me and deter me.
And that could be selfish but ultimately I’m the patriach of this family and its my responsibilty to take us onward and upward and that’s what I intend to do. I just have, I think a purpose, and I don’t alawys have the time to do the thoughtful, considerate things that a husband should do.”
He also confirmed that money isn’t an issue in the divorce and providing for Tiny and the kids goes without saying and isn’t even a card on the table.
Season 6 of The Family Hustle also prenires on April 17 and he made it clear that they address personal issues about the split but there’s no foolery going on despite their problems.
Switching gears, Tip also revealed that he has a new album dropping this year as well as a Hustle Gang album and tour that will feature B.o.B, Young Dro, Translee, Ra Ra, London Jae, Trae The Truth, Yung Booke, Tokyo, and his son Damani. Speaking of his upcoming album, he stated,
“We just gone make sure we give everybody the best Tip album we can give them. I’m going for Trap Muzik on this one…Cause a lot of people dont really know that I created trap music.”
Before closing out the interview, T.I. spoke on his relationship with his good friend, comedian Kevin Hart, and oneof their business endeavours.
“We have a television show that we’re producing together and its like The Office but set in a studio. And what happens in the studio from the time the sun sets ’til the time the sun rises. That’s basically the premise around the characters who work in the studio.”
