Makaveli The Don, a/k/a Tupac Shakur was inducted into the 2017 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Friday in Brooklyn at The Barclays Center. Snoop Dogg gave a heartfelt speech as he gave his homeboy the posthumous honor and in his tribute described Pac in-depth and recanted their first meeting when Makaveli introduced him to his first blunt. Capturing Tupac’s essence, he described the late great MC saying,

“To be human is to be many things at once. Strong and vulnerable. Hard headed and intellectual. Courageous and afraid. Loving and vengeful. Revolutionary and don’t get it F’d up… and gangsta.”

Alicia Keys. Naughty By Nature’s Treach, YG and T.I. also hit the stage and paid tribute to the Hip-Hop icon.

Alicia took her piano and played a medley of Shakur’s hits including “I Ain’t Mad At Cha,” “Dear Mama,” and “Changes” while talking about the impact his music had on her life.

YG then joined the stage with Snoop as the young Bompton rapper kicked Pac’s verses as the two performed the Death Row hit “2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted.”

Treach, who was one of Pac’s closest friends, also rocked the mic as he performed the gritty “Hail Mary” while The King of the South T.I. closed out the set with the inspirational “Keep Ya Head Up.”

Pearl Jam,  Journey, Joan Baez, Electric Light Orchestra and Yes were also part of the 2017 class inducted this past weekend which also included a tribute to the late Chuck Berry.
