CyHi The Prynce is back with his first new music since 2015 with the release of a brand new single, “Nu Africa” via Brooklyn Knights/Sony RAL.
“Nu Africa” marks an exciting return for the Grammy-nominated lyricist, showcasing a very different side of his unparalleled musical palate. Produced by S1 and Epikh Pro and co-produced by Mark Byrd, the track is laced with CyHi’s signature boom bap influences and raw energy. This song is personal as the politically and racially charged lyrics dismantle recent current events in The United States.
In the song, CyHi The Prynce really makes you wonder what could happen if Black people pulled their resources together and built a new nation. The ATL MC spits,
“Imagine if all the rappers were to get with all the athletes or activists and actors for a conference in Zaire to meet with all the ambassadors
in the motherland/ Tell her we comin’ back for her/ America know if we leave, it’d be a massacre/ Zimbabwe would be full of drug dealers and traffickers/ Smokin’ grass, a cut, pick all the hoes from Magic up/ Tell Tabitha let a nigga Cleopatra her/ So we can build a neighborhood out in Zambia/
Tell Khaled to build another one in Tanzania/ What if Jay and Bey went and bought some land in Egypt?/ And Puffy put a stripper club off the sands of Kenya? Nu Africa/ Since America can’t stand to see us/ Let’s show ’em why you never bite the hand that feeds you.”
Despite being out of the spotlight for nearly all of 2016, Cyhi The Prynce was still associated with some of the year’s biggest hits. As one of hip-hop’s most in-demand songwriters, CyHi co-wrote “Ultralight Beam” and “Famous” for Kanye West‘s chart-dominating The Life Of Pablo album, for which he received three nominations at this year’s GRAMMY Awards.
