Dave Chappelle Speaks on Kevin Hart’s Career, Kevin Hart Responds [Watch]

Dave Chappelle not only set records with his new two-part comedy special on Netflix (with the third coming very soon), but he also set the things straight regarding his feelings on fellow entertainers in the industry.

On part one of his comedy special, The Age of Spin: Dave Chappelle Live at the Hollywood Palladium, Chappelle addressed controversy surrounding his life, career, and decision to leave his cult classic show The Chappelle Show.

“People were mad at me because I didn’t boycott the Oscars,” Chappelle said of his decision to support fellow comedian Chris Rock, “I’m like muthaf*cka I’ve been on strike for 10 years and ya’ll still went to work; while I had to sit back and watch Key & Peele do my show.”

But Dave didn’t stop there, during his set he went on to hilariously talk about how he felt seeing Kevin Hart live in his hometown with his son and how the entire show made him upset.

“We are at the show and first off the crowd is filled with thousands of people holding their guts laughing and my son cracking up and slapping his knee,” Dave said, “I look at him like ‘ugh nigga I do this too.'”

Dave then revealed what happened when he and his son went backstage to meet Kevin Hart.

“My son wanted to go back stage and talk to him. Now I have known Kevin Hart for more than 10 years but that night I was afraid to knock on his dressing room door.”

About Kevin’s  success, Dave said that he is proud of his comedic colleague and didn’t realize the magnitude of his popularity until he “googled” how much he made.

“I didn’t realize how popular that Kevin was until I googled how much he made,” Chappelle continued. “Kevin is the only comedian who can sing a Drake song and all of it be about him. That nigga got ‘shut the f*ck up’ money. I got ‘quiet please’ money at best.”

Kevin Hart took to Twitter to give his response to the jokes after a fan asked him during a Q&A session on the platform if he had seen the routine, to which Kevin responded, “I thought it was amazing!!!!”

But if you think Kevin is going to allow you to pit one comedian against another, you thought wrong.
