Days after New York rapper Remy Ma turned herself in to authorities to face charges of punching reality TV star Brittney Taylor in the eye last month, Fat Joe took to Instagram today to express his outrage in the incident.
“Family First PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE beware of the CLOUT CHASE is this Country truly ready for rehabilitation, are we truly FORGIVING. Do we really believe in SECOND CHANCES here we have a woman who did her time came home and has been a Model Citizen the only time she’s out her house is to work or in this case Donating her time with a FREE performance for CANCER RESEARCH,” Joe captioned under a picture of Remy, Papoose and Joe holding their baby. “In a World that Continues to show Madness and Division in Families on T V here we see LOVE and Unity the woman’s been the most Flawless Parolee EVER never has had a Curfew Violation has been Drug tested time and time again not once has Violated. According to TMZ, Remy allegedly socked Taylor backstage during the Pretty Lou Benefit Concert at Irving Plaza near Union Square on April 16. Remy turned herself in on Wednesday (May 1) on a charge of misdemeanor assault, posted a $1,500 bond and was released the same day.
The altercation between the Love and Hip Hop: New York cast mates began when Taylor claims that Remy, whose real name is Reminisce Smith, punched her in the face after she told the rapper that she had saved Remy’s step-daughter from getting beat up from a man during Spring Break. The alleged assault reportedly caused Taylor to seek treatment at Manhattan’s Mount Sinai Hospital.
“What happened with me and Dej in Miami is I saved her—I saved her life, and [Remy] got aggressive [when Britteny told her at Irving],” Taylor told NY Daily News. “She was like, ‘That’s not what I heard,’ and she punched me in the face.”
She continued, ”She’s supposed to be someone with the status and power that she can use for good or bad,” she said. “She shouldn’t be punching someone — punching someone so hard in the face to the point that here we are four days later and my eye’s only getting worse. It really hurts.”
Taylor’s attorney, Sanford Rubenstein, tells TMZ that Brittany “has confidence in our system of justice and will continue to fully cooperate with the authorities.”
