Paul Wall and Baby Bash Appear in Court on Drug Charges

Paul Wall and fellow Houston rapper Baby Bash appeared in a Houston courtroom Tuesday to face felony drug charges, NBC affiliate KRPC 2 News reports.

Wall, whose real name is Paul Michael Slayton, 35, and Bash, whose real name is Ronald Ray Bryant, 47, were both charged with manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance between 4 and 400 grams. According to court documents, the substance was THC, the active ingredient in marijuana.

As reported earlier, the two Texas rappers were apprehended after officers executed a search warrant at Paradise Smoke Shop. According to reports, Slayton was holding a private party, collecting toys for disadvantaged children.

During Tuesday’s hearing, the prosecutor said undercover officers discovered the time and location of the “smokeout” via an Instagram account called “Secret Smoke Society.” The prosecutor also said marijuana, THC oil and pills were found at the party, as well as a $10 cover charge.

The judge the pair were “engaging in organized, criminal activity,” and ordered random drug testing.

Wall told the judge that he would test positive for four drugs if tested immediately. Wall’s attorney said he suffers from back problems. The judge asked for proof of valid prescriptions. If convicted, prosecutors said, they can face up to life in prison.
