Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Previews His New Under Armour Trainers Inspired By The Military, ‘Desert Sand USDNA’

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson switched up his gym routine the other day, per inspiration from our nation’s soldiers. He already had ability to wake up and work out by 6 a.m., plus the muscles to do rowing reps. But what alerted fans, who woke up to his morning notifications, was the kicks he donned while doing his rise and grind gym time.

The last time Johnson’s gym shoes created such buzz on Instagram was back in August 2016 when he announced his first signature shoe with Under Armour. Project Rock Delta, similar to Under Armour’s Highlight Delta, debuted in April 2017 at $140 and sold out immediately. Once restocked weeks later, sneakers again sold out within 24 hours, resulting in a break in production. In short, you have wait until August 2017 to cop your pair—if you ordered fast enough. And to ease those whose fingers just couldn’t click “Checkout” in time, Johnson announced in April that more colorways were coming later in the year—which brings us to July 2017

The Fast and Furious actor teased the prototype for his latest creation with Under Armour on Instagram on July 5. The new colorway of Rock Delta will be his second sneaker release with the sportswear brand and is called “ Desert Sand USDNA.” In a washed-out mix of gray, brown and possibly green—The Rock pays homage to the US military. He also foils his previous shoe comprised of a vibrant gold and black mesh upper. A more toned-down style, Desert Sand USDNA is expected to be released in the fall.
