Scarface Is Working on a New Album

He’s been in the game longer than a lot of these newer rappers have even been alive, and Scarface is still one of the coldest MCs to step into a recording booth. And in a recent series of Instagram posts and tweets between him and veteran producer N.O. Joe, the Houston legend has been giving fair warning that a new album is well on its way.

“So I’m in the studio,” Face says in a video posted to Instagram yesterday (July 26). “And the fucked up part about me being in the studio is, I’m in the studio with this nigga,” he quickly pans the camera in Joe’s direction. “And the fucked up part about me being in the studio with that nigga means somebody’s ass is in trouble. Man, play something, Joe.” From there, an eerie organ section competes with crisp, mid-tempo hi hats before the drum kick in with hard-driving bass and snare.

Shit just got real… (yet again)

Brad Jordan opens up another video with the intro of a new recording playing in the background.

“We (are) doing two-a-days. I’m in a whole nother studio,” he says.

He then lets the verse from the background song play. In his signature, storytelling flow, the verse opens up with Face being harassed by a racist cop.

Even producer N.O. Joe got in on adding suspense for a new album. Yesterday, he teased a video on Instagram of Face freestyling over an instrumental.

Being back in the studio should be no surprise. Face hasn’t dropped an album since 2015’s Deeply Rooted. And earlier this month, he made some tweets about wanting to drop some new music. “Zro Big boi Titty boy khali and hov shit make me wanna go back in….. thank you!!!,” he tweeted.

In another tweet, he said, “And Nas just make me wanna go back in period….. #salute them cats.”
