Stan Smiths by Adidas × Kvadrat Are A Dotted Dream

The new special edition of Stan Smith is a fun and colorful take on the shoe’s iconic flow, courtesy of a partnership between Adidas Originals and Danish textile company Kvadrat.

Kvadrat specializes in contemporary designs—much like its site of inspiration, Copenhagen. And its fabric designers like Vibeke Rohland fused their tastes with the traditional Adidas model in what they call “culminating as a collaborative release that is full of tone, texture, and colour” to represent the capital of Denmark.

The Adidas Originals × Kvadrat Stan Smith comes in Navy, Pink and Core Black. Drawn from designer Rohland’s “Squares” collection, each sneaker feels like patchwork. Through it is not. On the same fabric, it combines a series of dotted patterns that bring even more shades into the mix. And sometimes the dot patterns overlap one another and result in a dazed geometric look. With such a unique upper and a leather heel patch, the shoe treats your feet like a work of modern art. It’s whimsical in color, yet regulated to a utilitarian and minimalistic layout. Plus Kvadrat played with the Adidas emblem a bit, replacing the three solid lines encompassing its stripes with embroidered dots.

Adidas and Kvadra will release their Stan Smith collaboration on July 6, 2017. The sneaker is available from Adidas and select retailers.
