TLC is set to return and just gave fans a listen of their new single “Way Back.” The track features Snoop Dogg and fans first got to hear a sample of the song on a recent episode of FOX show Star (on March 8).
TLC is gearing to release their fifth and final studio album on June 30. They described “Way Back” in a press release, stating the song is about “those relationships which stay with you through good times and bad, and suggests a band not only reflecting on their sometimes-turbulent roots but facing forwards, to a bright future.”
This will be the group’s first album in 15 years and the first since Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes was killed in a car accident in 2002.
T-Boz and Chilli raised over $450-thousand through a Kickstarter campaign to record the project. They described the sound of the project, saying,
“Our final album will stay true to the TLC sound, always confronting the real issues and life experiences that we all must face every single day, everywhere. We write music that people relate to…timeless music. No matter the trends, we feel like our music is always relevant. You’ll always have a guy hanging out the passenger side! And sometimes you’ll feel damn unpretty! We will continue to make music for EVERYONE, music that’s UNIVERSAL, TOUCHABLE. This final album will be the first studio album by the two of us. Of course, Lisa’s spirit will always be present in our music. That will never change.”
