Tupac Shakur’s Breakup Letter to Madonna Blocked from Being Auctioned Off

Looks like that letter to Madonna from Tupac Shakur won’t be sold after all.

TMZ reports that the Material Girl’s legal team was swift in getting her items removed from Gotta Have Rock and Roll’s catalog. The auction site had 20 of the singer’s belongings up for grabs, which included the infamous Tupac break up letter that he sent to her from prison, and a note in which she refers to Whitney Houston as “horribly mediocre”. On Tuesday, a temporary restraining order was file against the auction house, just one day before the auction of the letter (that started off at $100k) was scheduled to take place. Additional items that were up auction include a pair of underwear, private photos and a checkbook.

Reps from Gotta Have Rock and Roll insist that the items were legally obtained and they fully intend to challenge the court order. Madonna however is singing a different tune. In the court documents that were obtained by TMZ, she states that she was unaware that the items had been taken from her home. Madonna’s former art curator, Darlene Lutz is said to be responsible for the leak of Madonna’s personal items. She accuses Lutz of betraying her “trust in an outrageous effort to obtain [her] possessions without [her] knowledge or consent.” The legal team representing Lutz and the Gotta Have Rock and Roll auction house are standing firm and are prepared to refute the matter in a court of law.
