D.R.A.M. & Lil Yachty’s “Broccoli” Goes Five Times Platinum

In less than a year after the single’s release, D.R.A.M. & Lil Yachty’s “Broccoli” was just certified five times platinum by the RIAA. The record reached platinum sales back in September 2016 and four times platinum in February.

D.R.A.M. took to Twitter to send a series of tweets about his accomplishment.

“Honey, S/O to all of the amazingly talented people that I’ve worked with. It’s still mind blowing to me,” he tweeted.

D.R.A.M.’s debut album, Big Baby D.R.A.M., recently reached certified gold status with the RIAA.

Broccoli, a slang term for marijuana, put the Hampton, Va. rapper in the middle of a verbal squabble with Kodak Black last year. Kodak believed he originated the term and even banned other rappers from saying it altogether.

That was until triple OG E-40 stepped in to remind the youngster that he originated the term back in 1990s.

And he backs up his claim with a post of a clip from his 1993 music video “Practice Lookin’ Hard” where he rapped, “Got me a baggy full of broccoli and a crooked Ides 22/I feel great.” 40 Water even holds up a small bag of weed as he recites the line.

In the caption, the Vallejo vet comments: “In 1993 I refer weed as BROCCOLI On my song ‘Practice Looking Hard’ In 1998 I made a song called ‘BROCCOLI’ On my Gold double album ‘The Element of Surprise’ #PROBLEMSOLVED #BROCCOLI Fuck beef get money! 💸.”
