Linkin Park Frontman, Chester Bennington, Dead at 41

Sad day for fans of the band Linkin Park.

TMZ reports that Chester Bennington, frontman for the popular alt-rock band Linkin Park, was found dead from an apparent suicide by hanging in his private residence in Los Angeles county shortly before 9 AM this morning.

Linkin Park hit the music scene in 2000 with their debut album Hybrid Theory. Their sound, a hybrid of alternative rock and rap, made them a popular band among the hip hop community. In 2004, Linkin Park released a collaborative EP with Jay-Z entitled Collision Course that featured the mash-up hit “Numb/Encore”. The single went on to peak at number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 and won the award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration at the 2006 Grammy Awards. In recent years, Linkin Park has had a string of hits including “Faint,” “In the End” and “Crawling.”

Chester is survived by a wife and 6 children. Our thoughts and prayers are with the fans of Linkin Park as well as Chester’s friends and family. Watch a live version of Linkin Park and Jay-Z performing their hit “Numb/Encore” below. #RIPChesterBennington
