Spike Lee recently announced that he is cancelling the use of Chrisette Michele’s music in his new Netflix series She’s Gotta Have It. The legendary director’s decision comes on the heels of news that Michele agreed to perform at the Inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump.
Lee posted a picture of the singer to Instagram with the caption: ” I Wuz Sorry To Read That “Sistuh Girl” Is Singin’ At DT’s Inauguration (And To Use His Fav Word-SAD). I Wuz Thinkin’ ’bout Using Chrisette’s Song- BLACK GIRL MAGIC In My Netflix Series SHE’S GOTTA HAVE IT…. NOT ANYMORE. And Dat’s Da Truth, Ruth.”
In an attempt to sway her decision to perform, Questlove offered to pay the R&B singer not to perform.
I'd pay Chrisette to NOT perform 😔

And she even got roasted on social media not to perform with trending hashtag #ChrisetteIsCancelled. Apparently, she is standing firm on her decision. See some interesting tweets below.
